Nate's New Hobby...

Nate has decided to take up a new hobby...Rugby. I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant at first to let him do this (like he doesn't have a choice in the matter:)). Mostly because I don't understand the game of Rugby at all. I have watched a few games and I still don't get it. In fact I find it to be a very odd game. And it scares me that there is tackling involved but no helmet or pads. The funny thing is Nate doesn't really understand the game either. He is catching on, but when he first started his coach would stand on the sidelines and tell him what to do throughout the whole game. It made me laugh because this is how I played soccer when I was little. My dad would walk up and down the sidelines and tell me what to do.
To be fair Nate really is good at the game. He is famous for his tall skinny legs that can run really fast. It has been fun to watch him play. It also is a good outlet from school for him. But I do still fear that he will get hurt because Nate's insurance isn't the best. And because that would be sad if he got hurt:).

I tried to copy some pictures off of facebook but couldn't figure out how to do it so you will have to click on this weblink to see some pictures of Nate in action. One tough dude if you ask me!

Congrats to the new Lawyer!

My sister Janelle passed the Bar!! She is now considered a genius. Congratulations to her and we are so excited and happy for her. What an accomplishment (and relief). Well done Attorney Janelle, well done. We are going to need a good lawyer if I ever make it through med school!

This may be the last picture I post because the bigger I get the less cute this old belly of mine gets.

You Never Know Who is Watching...

I want to mention quickly something that happened to me the other day. I comment on it only to point out that we can never know when we are having an impact on someone else's life, and that we need to be on our toes at all time.

There is this girl Kwanda that would come to almost every group exercise class I taught at the gym...no matter what gym (we have three in the area and one is really far away) or class format I was teaching. And she would always make sure to thank me after class for the workout. Last week she came to me after class to let me know that this would be her last time because she and her husband were moving to California. She proceeded to tell me that she really appreciated my classes and would miss them a lot. She started to tear up as she told me that she had lost her job a few months back and had been having a really hard time with it. She then told me that coming to my classes really helped her get through it because she would see me working hard even though I was pregnant. She said "I know you must be tired but you keep working hard and that really helped me keep going even when I wanted to be down on myself". I was amazed I had such an impact on her.

Again I don't share this with you to brag about myself but rather to just remind us all that we can and do have an impact on those we come in contact with each day. Even when we don't realize it. We never know how much the simple things we do each day will mean to others. Hopefully you will remember this as you go about your day feeling like you do the same thing day in and day out, and wonder if what you are doing is making a difference. Because it is.

I also really appreciate the fact that Kwanda let me know how much she appreciated me. There were many days that I didn't want to be teaching. I was tired. I put on my happy face and pretended I was excited to be bouncing around like an annoying aerobics instructor. It is nice to know that our actions are appreciated every once in a while. I hope we will remember to thank those around us that do the small things that make a big difference.
